This is the 5th in a series of occasional conferences that Assessment Tomorrow has run looking at the development in the use of e-Assessment in vocational and professional education and training.
Since the last event, developments in qualifications, in the use of e-testing and e-portfolios have changed the environment significantly. e-Assessment, the use of technology based assessment, is now part of the mainstream in the classroom and the workplace. This conference will examine these changes and focus on the ways in which the use of technology has supported the introduction of the Qualifications and Credit Framework, faced and addressed the challenges in developing technologies and systems to cope with Functional Skills. At the same time it will look at and how professional bodies, often seen as traditional in their approach to assessment, have not only embraced the use of technology but are using it to develop innovative assessment methods and to provide better customer service to their centres and learners.
e-Assessment and similar tools and techniques can enhance and support the assessment and qualification process :
Design of a wide range of stimulating and testing item types
Enablement of e-portfolio, evidential and controlled assessments
Construction of innovative assessment vehicles from adaptive testing to on demand assessment to self-diagnosis assessments
Delivery of assessment in demanding environments and to suit deliverers, awarding organisations and, most importantly, learners
In depth analysis and feedback of performance of individuals, groups, assessment and teaching
Use of content and systems in a variety of productive and innovative forms
Administrative support of the qualification process and integration with a wide range of IT and ICT enabled activities. .
